LEARN TO MOVE WITH CONFIDENCE!

Statistics show that

  • 32% of community-residing older adults fall at least once per year
  • Serious injuries are reported in 24% who fall
  • Estimates are that 250,000 hip fractures occur annually in the U.S. as a direct result of falls
  • Statistics are expected to double by 2040.

Good balance and mobility are the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Impairments to your postural stability limit the extent and type of physical activities that you are able to pursue as you age. Improving and maintaining your balance will lessen the chances of falling.

How Do You Get Started?

The Balanced Approach program consists of two, hour-long training sessions a week for eight weeks (for a total of 16 sessions). You will start with an in-depth assessment using carefully chosen tests that measure your current state of balance and mobility. For the remaining classes, you will participate in exercises designed to help you get better control of your center of gravity, improve the way you walk, increase your strength and flexibility, and teach you how to react to balance challenges in the real world.

Take the first step toward moving with confidence and register now for the Balanced Approach program. Classes are held at the Virginia Spine Institute in Reston, VA and Ashburn, VA.
